S\u00e9ance\u00a0<\/em>will be the band\u2019s fifth album. Agnew, Elliott, and Scabies are founding members and comprised the lineup on\u00a0Good Evening, Sir!\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Election\u00a0<\/em>(both 2016). Gray joined in 2017 and appears alongside the trio on\u00a0Disintegrate Me\u00a0<\/em>(2018) and\u00a0Live at the 100 Club\u00a0<\/em>(2019). All four albums \u2014 as well as the upcoming\u00a0S\u00e9ance<\/em>\u2014 are released by Fullertone Records.<\/p>\n

\u201cA s\u00e9ance typically refers to a ritual used to make contact with a person who has died,\u201d says Agnew. \u201cWe see the songs on our new album as attempting to re-establish contact with an era, a way of life, that has died. More specifically, our goal is to evoke the strong connection we felt toward music in our youth \u2014 the ritual of bringing home an album from the record store and totally immersing yourself in its journey. We love albums and this group exists to celebrate them. Our new songs tend to be reflective, as we remember former friends and band members who may no longer be along for the ride.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tying in with the s\u00e9ance concept, Professor and the Madman has created a new board game which will be available at various pre-order levels. The game is played with a pair of dice, cards, and miniature game pieces. The\u00a0S\u00e9ance\u00a0<\/em>CD will come with a fold-out paper insert which constitutes the gameboard. The\u00a0S\u00e9ance\u00a0<\/em>purple\u00a0vinyl edition will have the gameboard as its gatefold.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe new material is eclectic,\u201d says Agnew. \u201cIt\u2019s less punk-influenced than our previous albums. The 1960s and \u201870s musical influences are more pronounced. We\u2019re big fans of the Kinks, the Beatles, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Brian Wilson. Maybe even some Zep!\u201d<\/p>\n
