However, yours truly did just that with regards to Stiff Richards\u2019 \u201cState of Mind\u201d album<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Two days after my drunken endeavours the\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">WeTransfer<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0file arrived. \u201cPlease be good\u201d I hoped. Have you ever, from the opening notes of a record from a band you have absolutely no knowledge of, known instinctively that\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">you\u2019re gonna love every single one of the songs? Again, that\u2019s what happened to yours truly. \u201cPoint of You\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">kicks in with top quality jangly<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0guitar before the rest of the band cotton on and let rip. Almost immediately, I was singing along, all right shouting<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0along<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, at the idiot box\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">with\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cWhat\u2019s the point of you?!\u201d For those of you wondering why I had the Television on<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0whilst listening to music, I have the subtitles\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">on whilst using the home Gym,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">gotta<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0burn those Jameson Calories off some<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">how and being annoyed at the News helps.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">It\u2019s almost like the guitarist came into the rehearsal studio with a whole bunch of riffs, started playing them and the rest of the band automatically knew what was expected of them, with the bassist on \u201cGlass\u201d Peter Hooking things up in the manner of Joy Division\u2019s \u201cDance To The Radio\u201d but not.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0\u201cGot It\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">To<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0Go\u201d sounds like Rod Stewart and the Faces have rediscovered their swing<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0or gin<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0The songs are loose, tight and explosive all at the same.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:200,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The nine tracks on offer come and go in less than 30 minutes leaving me\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">gasping<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0for more<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, t<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">he fast pace does easy up towards the tail end of the album allowing me to catch my breath but not<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0enough that I need\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to l<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ie<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0down<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:200,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">I resisted the temptation to discover more about Stiff Richards<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0whilst writing this<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0as I didn\u2019t want to be influenced or swayed by anyone or anything else.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0I did get it into my mind that they\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">must be<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Australasia as the singer\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">sometimes hinted at Rob Younger, either that or he was a fan of\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Radio Birdman<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and The\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">New Christs<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Turns out that the band are Australian residing in Rye which is just outside of Melbourne and consist of\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Wolfgang Buckley on vocals with\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Arron<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Ma<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">wson<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and Tim\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Garrard<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0on guitars,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Raf<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Heale<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0on Bass and finally\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Lochie<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Cavigan<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0on drums.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:200,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cState of Mind\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">from Stiff Richards\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">is available right now from the aptly titled <a href=\"https:\/\/stiffrichards.bandcamp.com\/releases?fbclid=IwAR3KD9rywkyAYSn_bpZC2yDpl7gsuG9ihFTYninzR-x3h_c6SwdZZ6lM4vA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Legless Records<\/a><\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.
