\"\"<\/a>During their tenure the Sonic\u2019s Rendezvous Band only released one 7\u201d in the shape and form of \u201cCity Slang\u201d that supposedly had the song in stereo on one side and mono on the other although the general consensuses are, they are identical. If you were not lucky enough to have the aforementioned 7\u201d the only other source was the badly recorded\u00a0<\/span>Bootleg<\/span>\u00a0album \u201cStrikes Like Lightening\u201d that surfaced in the 1980s. That was until the late 90\u2019s when soundboard live records started to surface and were officially released.\u00a0<\/span>The latest is the vinyl 12\u201d \u201cNo Sleep T<\/span>i<\/span>ll Ypsilanti\u201d that was recorded at the Huron Inn, Ypsilanti MI 10<\/span>th<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>April 1976<\/span>\u00a0and released on the Spanish label Bang!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNo Sleep Till Ypsilanti\u201d is an interesting release because it<\/span>\u2019s only the band\u2019s 2<\/span>nd<\/span>\u00a0set. They would go on to play a total of three that evening.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Apart from the opening number of \u201cGrand River Soul\u201d which was collectively written by the band the others are either covers; Dylan\u2019s \u201cLike A Rolling Stone\u201d, Ray Charles\u2019 \u201cI Believe To My Soul\u201d and \u201cPart-Time Love\u201d by Clay Hammond\u00a0<\/span>or were written by Scot Morgan giving it a more soul and blues\u00a0<\/span>feel\u00a0<\/span>with only \u201cMystically Yours\u201d and \u201cElectrophonic Tonic\u201d hinting at\u00a0<\/span>the<\/span>\u00a0onslaught of guitars<\/span>\u00a0that is synonymous with the band<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0Morgan\u2019s vocals\u00a0<\/span>sound like he\u2019s spent far too long at a Dive Bar in the French Quarter of New Orleans<\/span>;<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>s<\/span>upremely laidback.<\/span>\u00a0It\u2019s clear that this is an early gig with the band finding their feet with original bassist WR Cooke<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0who sadly passed away in 2<\/span>015, still\u00a0<\/span>on four-string duties.<\/span>\u00a0The LP is limited to only 500 copies and to be honest, is really for completists as the whole three set concert is readily officially available elsewhere. However, having said that I\u2019m hoping that Bang!\u00a0<\/span>records<\/span>\u00a0will, in the fullness of time, be releasing set 1 and 3 as standalone albums.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
