But over the past few years, during the production of the\u00a0Distortion\u00a0reissue series, many of the people, places, and circumstances that fuelled those albums came back to life. Oddly, I didn\u2019t see that coming!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs for today: the book is ten years old, I\u2019m thrilled that 30 years of my work has been re-released in so many configurations, and I\u2019m very grateful to be able to take these songs and stories to the stage later this year \u2014 and hopefully many years to come. As time marches on, I\u2019m learning to embrace my past, enjoy the moment, and still have hopes and dreams for the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As on the previously released box sets in the\u00a0<em>Distortion<\/em>\u00a0collection, the fourth volume sees each album being mastered by\u00a0<strong>Jeff Lipton<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Maria Rice\u00a0<\/strong>at\u00a0Peerless Mastering\u00a0in Boston and is\u00a0presented with brand new artwork designed by illustrator\u00a0<strong>Simon Marchner<\/strong>\u00a0and pressed on 140g clear vinyl with unique splatter effects. This box set includes 4 live albums:\u00a0<strong><em>Live At The Cabaret Metro, 1989\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>(first time on vinyl); the Sugar album\u00a0<strong><em>The Joke Is Always On Us, Sometimes<\/em><\/strong>;\u00a0<strong><em>LiveDog98<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(first time on vinyl), and\u00a0<strong><em>Live at ATP 2008<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(first time on vinyl). In addition, the set includes a\u00a028-page companion booklet\u00a0featuring liner notes by journalist\u00a0<strong>Keith Cameron<\/strong>; contributions from\u00a0<strong>Bully\u2019s Alicia Bognanno<\/strong>; rare photographs and memorabilia, and a bonus LP<strong>\u00a0<em>Distortion Plus: Live<\/em><\/strong>, which features live rarities including B-Sides and stand-out tracks from the\u00a0<strong><em>Circle of Friends<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0concert film.<\/p>\n<p>Mould has also announced that\u00a0<strong>Jason Narducy<\/strong>\u00a0will\u00a0open the solo portion of his\u00a0<strong>Distortion and Blue Hearts!<\/strong>\u00a0tour starting October 15th, 2021, in Bloomington, IL at Castle Theater. These solo dates are the second part of a tour that begins with his band &#8212; Narducy on bass and drummer\u00a0<strong>Jon Wurster<\/strong>\u00a0on September 16th at Paradise Rock Club in Boston.<\/p>\n<p>Narducy has been the bass player in Bob Mould\u2019s band since 2005. The\u00a0Evanston, IL-based musician first gained renown in 1982, when at 11 years old, he formed the\u00a0seminal punk rock band<strong>\u00a0Verb\u00f6ten\u00a0<\/strong>with his childhood friends in an Evanston basement. Narducy\u00a0would later go on to front\u00a0<strong>Verbow<\/strong>, releasing three albums with the band (one in its earliest\u00a0incarnation as\u00a0<strong>Jason &amp; Alison<\/strong>). Since his days in Verbow, Narducy has gone on to tour with such\u00a0acts as\u00a0<strong>Robert Pollard\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Telekinesis<\/strong>. Today, along with playing bass for\u00a0Mould he performs the same role in\u00a0<strong>Superchunk<\/strong>, and fronts\u00a0<strong>Split Single<\/strong>, with whom he\u2019s recorded three albums with a rotating cast of\u00a0stellar musicians, including Jon Wurster,\u00a0<strong>Spoon<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Britt Daniel<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>R.E.M.<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Mike Mills<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Wilco<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0<strong>John Stirratt<\/strong>.
