Legendary musician\u00a0Bob Mould<\/strong>\u00a0today announces a run of\u00a0Solo Electric 2022 UK and Ireland tour dates<\/strong>\u00a0beginning\u00a0January 19th<\/strong>\u00a0at Whelan’s in Dublin. The tour, perfectly timed with the incoming release of Mould’s\u00a0Distortion: Live<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0vinyl boxset, will see him perform solo versions of music from across his 40+ year career, including songs from the\u00a0Distortion<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0collection and from his landmark band\u00a0H\u00fcsker D\u00fc<\/strong>, as well as from last year’s explosive and critically acclaimed\u00a0Blue Hearts<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0album.\u00a0As Mould notes:\u00a0\u201cI’m looking forward to the upcoming Solo Electric shows in the UK and Ireland. I\u2019m excited to be performing songs from 2020\u2019s Blue Hearts,\u00a0as well as revisiting the prior 40 years of my songbook.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

On top of that Mould\u00a0has also\u00a0shared a video in which he,\u00a0along with his friend, actor, comedian and avid Mould fan\u00a0Fred Armisen<\/strong>,\u00a0open the boxes of the different vinyl volumes of Mould\u2019s career retrospective boxset\u00a0Distortion<\/em>. Armisen penned the introduction to Mould\u2019s massive 24-CD\u00a0Distortion<\/em>\u00a0box which was released last autumn\u00a0by\u00a0Demon<\/strong>.\u00a0 The vinyl volumes have been released periodically over the last year, with the fourth and final vinyl box\u00a0Distortion: Live<\/em>\u00a0now scheduled to be released by Demon on\u00a0August 6th<\/strong>. The 8LP set includes live recordings from Mould\u2019s solo career as well as performances by his band,\u00a0Sugar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

As on the previously released box sets in the\u00a0Distortion<\/em>\u00a0collection, the fourth volume sees each album being mastered by\u00a0Jeff Lipton<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Maria Rice\u00a0<\/strong>at\u00a0Peerless Mastering\u00a0in Boston and is\u00a0presented with brand new artwork designed by illustrator\u00a0Simon Marchner<\/strong>\u00a0and pressed on 140g clear vinyl with unique splatter effects. This box set includes 4 live albums:\u00a0Live At The Cabaret Metro, 1989\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>(first time on vinyl); the Sugar album\u00a0The Joke Is Always On Us, Sometimes<\/em><\/strong>;\u00a0LiveDog98<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(first time on vinyl), and\u00a0Live at ATP 2008<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(first time on vinyl). In addition, the set includes a\u00a028-page companion booklet\u00a0featuring liner notes by journalist\u00a0Keith Cameron<\/strong>; contributions from\u00a0Bully\u2019s Alicia Bognanno<\/strong>; rare photographs and memorabilia, and a bonus LP\u00a0Distortion Plus: Live<\/em><\/strong>, which features live rarities including B-Sides and stand-out tracks from the\u00a0Circle of Friends<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0concert film.<\/p>\n
