MAGAZINE ESSENTIAL PLAYLIST<\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2309948255MsoNoSpacing\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2309948255MsoNoSpacing\"><b>Wax on Water<\/b>\u00a0are an Alternative Rock band hailing from Camden, London, UK, that\u00a0draw from grunge, electronica, and industrial sounds, mixed together with layers of strings, piano and intense guitars, to make a heady and unique &#8216;Electro-Grunge&#8217;\u00a0sound that is all their own.\u00a0All songs are written, performed and produced by lead singer Maya Damaris with Steven Blessing working his dark magic on guitar. The band are set to release brooding new single\u00a0<b><i>\u201cSeventh Son\u201d<\/i><\/b>\u00a0on 17<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0September 2021 with a strategic \u2018drip, drip, drip\u2019 single releases to follow, with\u00a0<b><i>\u201cThe Drip Part\u201d EP<\/i><\/b>\u00a0being released on 12<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0November, followed by later releases, and culminating in their full album\u00a0<b><i>\u201cThe Drip\u201d<\/i><\/b>\u00a0\u2013 set to land in May 2022.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2309948255MsoNoSpacing\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"641\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ckMVZjKRy1Q?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><b>Maya Damaris<\/b>\u00a0is a multi-faceted creative talent: not only is she a consummate singer, performer and a versatile multi-instrumentalist, she also writes and produces all the musical output for the band. Originally from London, Damaris was a classically trained pianist and singer but started Wax on Water in 2012 because she \u201c\u2026wanted to\u00a0<i>create music that causes a reaction in people, in the same way that the grunge, rock and industrial bands that I grew up loving did to me\u201d.<\/i>\u00a0 Her influences are eclectic but classic: the Motown greats, Blues singers like Dinah Washington and Billie Holiday, pop and rock ground-breakers Bowie, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Kate Bush and Iggy Pop. Later, inspiration arrived in the form of experimental electronica: Kraftwerk, CAN,\u00a0Laurie Anderson and Throbbing Gristle as well as metal, grunge and industrial bands My Bloody Valentine, The Cure, Soundgarden, Slayer and Nine Inch Nails. Maya expertly weaves all these formative influences to create the unique sound for Wax on\u00a0Water.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2309948255MsoNoSpacing\">Hailing from South-East London, prodigious guitarist\u00a0<b>Steven Blessing<\/b>\u00a0became a professional guitarist by the age of 15. After getting a music degree he started touring with the rock band Estrangor, for which he was the founder and main songwriter. Since then, he\u2019s performed with a wide range of bands and worked in the studio with a variety of independent artists before joining Wax on Water in 2019. Steven\u2019s guitar playing is heavily influenced by the classic rock and metal guitar greats Jimi Hendrix, Dimebag Darrell, Randy Rhoads and Jimmy Page.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2309948255MsoNoSpacing\">\n<p class=\"yiv2309948255MsoNoSpacing\">Wax on Water\u2019s 2018 debut album\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/0VFPisZ7veoI9cdkpvYWld?si=42b-GqejT66Wksco-9rOGw&amp;dl_branch=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"><i>\u201cProcession<\/i>\u201d<\/a>\u00a0was a critically acclaimed album of seven\u00a0songs of admirable diversity evoking the raucous grit of Queens of The Stone Age and Nine Inch Nails, to the rootsy goodness of The Black Crowes and beyond, all infused\u00a0with Damaris\u2019 inherent grungy flair.<i>\u00a0<\/i>The positive reaction to this promising debut helped the band to secure a distribution deal with The Orchard\/Sony Music for their own Record label, Howling Tempest Records.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2309948255MsoNoSpacing\">\n<p class=\"yiv2309948255MsoNoSpacing\">Forthcoming album\u00a0<b><i>\u201cThe Drip\u201d<\/i><\/b>\u00a0is a collection of 16 songs\u00a0that takes the band\u2019s previous successes and, with Blessing now firmly on board, adds an extra layer of guitar energy.<b>\u00a0<\/b>Drums for the album were played by LA session drummer,\u00a0<b>Garren Orr<\/b>\u00a0(YolkLore, Tennis System) and the record was mixed at MooseCat Studios, LA and mastered by Will Borza at the Grammy Award Winning Howie Weinberg Mastering Studios, LA.\u00a0<b><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2309948255MsoNoSpacing\">\n<p class=\"yiv2309948255MsoNoSpacing\">The single\u00a0<b><i>\u201cSeventh Son\u201d<\/i><\/b>\u00a0was written by Damaris in a hotel room in Los Angeles and then recorded in London in the summer of 2020.\u00a0The track\u00a0follows the ambitious and intriguing reimagining of the O\u2019Jays Philadelphia Soul classic\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/0KvDwUk4T3lpj0NTPap3Un?si=b4c227e8ac5f4e56\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"><i>\u201cFor the Love of Money\u201d<\/i><\/a>\u00a0as the second release from the album and is about the dark descent of a relationship.
