Chubby and the Gang have<\/strong> shared a new EP entitled\u00a0‘Labour of Love’<\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0featuring three brand new songs, as well as a music video for lead single ‘Who Loves Ya (Coup d’\u00e9tat)<\/strong>‘.\u00a0Labour of Love<\/em>\u00a0is available now digitally, and a special picture disc 7″ is available to pre-order now (HERE<\/a>).\u00a0Steve Lamacq\u00a0<\/strong>premiered ‘Who Loves Ya (Coup d’\u00e9tat)’\u00a0on his\u00a0BBC 6Music<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0show yesterday evening.

The video for ‘Who Loves Ya (Coup d’\u00e9tat)’\u00a0was filmed and edited by the band\u2019s tour manager,\u00a0Ted Foster<\/strong>. Frontman\u00a0Charlie Manning Walker\u00a0<\/strong>says of the song:\u00a0“We had the idea to do a Valentine\u2019s Day single and I sort of wanted to show all the angles of love. Warts and all. Quite often it\u2019s not such a smooth experience. Can often feel scary and insane. So I wanted to write a bubblegum song about it but also show the duality of the emotion.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chubby and the Gang released their acclaimed second album –\u00a0The Mutt\u2019s Nuts<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0– last year via\u00a0Partisan<\/strong>. The album was produced by\u00a0Jonah Falco<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0Fucked Up<\/strong>, and was featured on year-end lists by\u00a0Rough Trade\u00a0and\u00a0Kerrang!\u00a0(“uncompromising Brit-punk anthems”<\/em>). It also earned them a spot touring with\u00a0Turnstile<\/strong>\u00a0in the UK, which they just wrapped up. Chubby and the Gang will tour throughout 2022, full dates\u00a0HERE<\/a>. US headline touring is set to be announced soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mutt\u2019s Nuts<\/em> followed the band\u2019s surprise 2020 critical hit, Speed Kills<\/strong><\/em>. Thanks to an unrelentingly fun concoction of hardcore, pub rock, doo wop, and blues, the album cemented them as leaders in a pack of new bands coming out of a new wave of British Hardcore. Alongside classic rock and roll themes of love and loss, their lyrics are rooted in worker\u2019s rights, inequality, police brutality, government failure and gentrification \u2013 issues that are built into the fabric of the UK, and magnified in the English capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
