Ian is playing the guitar on a sunny day on an old railway track in Spain and James is singing on a rainy day in the Yorkshire Dales.The fresh and frantic GO GO SAPIENS marks a fresh new era of EMF. Funded entirely by and created for the fans of the band, the new album reinvents the classic EMF sound. GO GO SAPIENS will be available on CD and limited edition vinyl. As Derry always says \u2018we have nothing to prove\u2019 so we did it for the fans and cause this is who we are and what we love to do. 100% EMF from the cradle to the rave\u201d\u00a0<\/em>&#8211;\u00a0<strong>Ian Dench<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>To celebrate the release of &#8216;GO GO SAPIENS&#8217;, EMF play four shows in April including the 229 in London on Saturday 9<sup>th<\/sup>, plus intimate performances at Esquires in Bedford on Sunday 10<sup>th<\/sup>, the Fleece in Bristol on Monday 11<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0and the Parish in Huddersfield on Tuesday 12<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a very successful 2021 behind them, celebrating their 30th anniversary with several sold out gigs and a sold out vinyl box set, they are excited to continue with that refreshed energy and momentum into 2022.<br>EMF originally formed in Cinderford, England in October 1989.; All five original members were veterans of the local music scene before founding EMF, whose name supposedly stood for \u201cEpsom Mad Funkers&#8221; (although it was widely speculated that the initials instead represented &#8220;Ecstasy Mother Fuckers&#8221;). Within two months of formation, the group played its first gig; after unearthing a Casio sampler and sequencer in a local thrift shop, a light techno element was added to their rock-oriented sound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><a href=\"http:\/\/rpmonline.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/PastedGraphic-2-4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"482\" height=\"362\" src=\"http:\/\/rpmonline.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/PastedGraphic-2-4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18003\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rpmonline.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/PastedGraphic-2-4.png 482w, https:\/\/rpmonline.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/PastedGraphic-2-4-300x225.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 482px) 100vw, 482px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Their debut album, &#8216;SCHUBERT DIP&#8217;, was released in May 1991. It was certified platinum (over a million copies sold) in the US in September 1991. It had reached a peak chart position of #3 in the UK and #12 in the US, as well as finishing the year at #57 overall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>By the end of 1991, their infectious debut single \u201cUnbelievable\u201d had conquered the charts on both sides of the Atlantic, hitting #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #3 in the UK. The single was certified gold (over 500,000 copies sold) in the US in May 1991. The song was in such heavy rotation for most of the year in America, that it finished as the #6 single overall for the year.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Further hit singles that succeeded \u201cUnbelievable\u201d included \u201cI Believe,\u201d \u201cChildren\u201d and \u201cLies.\u201d\u00a0In 1992, EMF returned with the Unexplained EP and the much darker full-length effort STIGMA; STIGMA peaked at #19 on the UK charts, and the band toured extensively to promote it. It produced hit singles and EMF live set favourites, \u201cThey\u2019re Here\u201d and \u201cIt\u2019s You.\u201d\u00a0<br>The band released their final full-length album of new material in 1995 with CHA CHA CHA. After a successful European tour, they teamed up with comics Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer on a cover of the Monkees&#8217; &#8220;I&#8217;m a Believer,\u201d which reached number 2 on the UK charts.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The band reunited in the summer of 2001 and released a Greatest Hits CD that coincided with a mini European festival and UK tour.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Primed to write new material and tour more extensively, the band were hit with the sudden passing of bassist Zac Foley on January 2, 2002.\u00a0\u00a0So shocked by the loss of Zac, the band fell silent.The band reunited in 2007 and have been steadily doing festivals and live shows in the years since.
