Many of these projects tend to be short lived and rarely capture the collective or individual greatness that these musicians achieved in prior bands. However, every so often, one of these so-called \u2018supergroups\u2019 actually delivers on the theoretical sum of its parts and writes, records, and performs music that stands up on its own merits and strengths and cements its place in the hearts and minds of rock fans across the world.\u00a0<br><br>Ladies and Gentlemen, one such band was\u00a0<strong>Velvet Revolver.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"VELVET REVOLVER by ROSS HALFIN\" width=\"1140\" height=\"641\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/rSFqGy9ctFA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><br>Having utterly dominated the early and mid 1990\u2019s in\u00a0<strong>Guns N Roses<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 one of the only truly bonafide bands to ever adopt the slogan of \u2018biggest band in the world\u2019 \u2013 founding members Slash and Duff McKagen found themselves somewhat adrift by the early 2000\u2019s, both having long left behind the machine of\u00a0<strong>Guns N Roses<\/strong>. Under fairly similar circumstances, another 1990\u2019s Rock giant \u2013\u00a0<strong>Stone Temple Pilots<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 had publicly imploded as a result of their own internal politics. Despite all the drama and the cultural zeitgeist of the time not particularly calling out for such a group,\u00a0<strong>Velvet Revolver<\/strong>\u00a0formed, and perhaps in spite of such adversity delivered their stunning debut album \u2018<strong>Contraband<\/strong>\u2019 on June 8th 2004. The album peaked at number one on the Billboard 200 and went on to sell over two million copies in the United States alone &#8211; a truly remarkable achievement by anyone\u2019s standards and serves as a reminder of the undeniable quality of the songs and performances that make up the track listing. A second album \u2018<strong>Libertad<\/strong>\u2019 followed three years later after countless concerts around the globe, and even if it didn\u2019t quite live up to the quality of its predecessor (frankly, few records could) \u2013 it still landed at number 5 on the Billboard top 200 and would be certified Gold in Canada and New Zealand.\u00a0<br><br>History would ultimately repeat itself and the same forces that led to the bands inception would reappear to derail\u00a0<strong>Velvet Revolver<\/strong>\u00a0once and for all in 2008 \u2013 however photographer\u00a0<strong>Ross Halfin<\/strong>\u00a0was there every step of the way to capture the band in the good times and the bad, and this photo book represents the total journey of\u00a0<strong>Velvet Revolver<\/strong>\u00a0and serves as a timely reminder that sometimes, rare as it might be, \u2018supergroups\u2019 can be genuinely super. The new coffee table book from\u00a0<strong>Rufus<\/strong>\u00a0celebrates the short lived brilliance of\u00a0<strong>Velvet Revolver<\/strong>\u00a0in a single limited edition book of just\u00a0<strong>500 numbered copies worldwide<\/strong>\u00a0with an introduction by\u00a0<strong>Duff McKagan<\/strong>.
