The amount of ground covered within its gorgeous packaging is staggering: 50 songs (16 of which are on physical media for the first time) sourced from out-of-print releases, digital singles, compilations, and more &#8211; a vital piece of the Superchunk canon. Accompanying the announcement is &#8216;<strong>Sunny Brixton<\/strong>&#8216;,\u00a0the b-side of UK-only 7-inch &#8216;<strong>Learned to Surf<\/strong>&#8216;,\u00a0originally released in 2011 by\u00a0<strong>One Four Seven Records<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Superchunk - Sunny Brixton (Official Audio)\" width=\"1140\" height=\"641\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/y1LnJmzxAbI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Of\u00a0<em>Misfits &amp; Mistakes<\/em>, Superchunk&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mac McCaughan\u00a0<\/strong>writes:<br>\u00a0<br><em>&#8220;This collection covers a lot of ground, from heavy touring years to a pandemic where we made singles and an album at home. One difference between this comp and our first three is that this time span completely falls in the digital age; the distance from a final mix to everyone hearing it is shorter than ever. I\u2019ve always liked artists who are prolific\u2014throwing out singles in between albums when you least expect it. A surprise release from your favorite band is one of the few things that can still bring a little excitement to what can seem like an endless deluge of \u201ccontent\u201d (puke). Hopefully the wild swings between lo &amp; hi fi and originals and covers on this comp still allow for some coherence and, more importantly, convey what\u2019s FUN about this punk rock thing.<br>\u00a0<br>&#8220;&#8216;Sunny Brixton&#8217;\u00a0was about staying with our friend and soundman Joe Hickey when he lived in a group house in Brixton in the \u201890s; it\u2019s all true.&#8221;<\/em><br>\u00a0<br>In the tradition of Superchunk singles compilations,\u00a0<em>Misfits &amp; Mistakes<\/em>\u00a0houses non-album tracks, demos, and cover songs sourced from 7-inches, compilations, and previously internet-exclusive artifacts.
