Formed in 1986, The Hangmen<\/strong> immediately caught the eye of Circle Jerks<\/strong> frontman Keith Morris<\/strong>, who began managing the band and produced the demos that landed them a deal with Capitol Records<\/strong>. In 1989 they released their self-titled debut produced by Vic Maile, (Mot\u00f6rhead, The Who \u201cLive at Leeds\u201d)<\/strong> before switching to the newly formed DGC Records<\/strong> whose roster included The Nymphs<\/strong> and Nirvana<\/strong> to name a few. That seemed like the perfect landing spot for the band, but unfortunately the Rob Younger (Radio Birdman) produced album Suicide Doors<\/em> was never released and the band dissolved into addiction.<\/p>\n\n\n

Not one to be down for long, a newly sober Small started writing again, the result was 2000\u2019s Metallic I.O.U.<\/em> released on the Los Angeles-based indie, Acetate Records<\/strong>. The Hangmen found a willing accomplice and partner in crime in label owner Rick Ballard, who produced their follow-up, We\u2019ve Got Blood On The Toes Of Our Boots<\/em>, a live recording of their OOP Capitol Records debut and 2019\u2019s Cactusville.<\/em> Tours with longtime fans Social Distortion<\/strong> and the Supersuckers<\/strong> followed. Mike Ness<\/strong> would later produce The Hangmen\u2019s 2007 release In the City.<\/em> \u201cI totally feel like we’re kindred spirits,\u201d<\/em> Small says looking back, adding that both bands emphasize \u201csimplicity, and doing what you do and staying true to that.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2010, the popular Finnish record label Hype Records released\u00a0Lost Rocks<\/em>, an eighteen-song Hangmen retrospective. Shortly thereafter, former Supersucker\u00a0Ron Heathmen<\/strong>\u00a0joined the band for 2012\u2019s critically acclaimed\u00a0East Of Western<\/em>. 2019 marked the release of\u00a0Cactusville<\/em>\u00a0as well as a performance on legendary European television show,\u00a0Rockpalast.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
