Hailing from the good old town of Portland, this eleven-track of down n dirty\u00a0good time\u00a0rock n roll is free from the shackles of\u00a0trends and fads and runs on\u00a0instinct\u00a0and\u00a0what’s\u00a0in their gut. Inspired by the good and the greats who set the\u00a0templates\u00a0for the wise (and not so wise) to follow. Kicks off in a sleazy\u00a0low lit late night\u00a0dive bar\u00a0kinda\u00a0sound,\u00a0no bells and whistles or fanfare\u00a0gimmicks\u00a0to announce that Celebrity Telethon are in da house, but \u2018Skin Flick\u2019 has honking horns and some slack, low-slung\u00a0guitars to ease you in with a mellow shot of Rock n Roll.\u00a0Don\u2019t\u00a0get too comfortable, folks, because\u00a0this one bobs\u00a0and weaves its slinky body of work.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Undercover\u2019 is a bright and breezy fuzzed up slice of Rock n Roll with a dash of \u2018Some Girls\u2019 Stones for good measure, and some ole blues licks for good measure, at least some were paying attention.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0roughed up around the edges as the vocals sound like three sheets to the wind, but oh so righteous. \u2018Neighborhood Regulars\u2019 is a side step with a filthy backbeat and some Grungy fuzzed up Bass guitar taking the limelight as the song grooves for the next three minutes, punctuated midway with some absolutely dirty low down horn\u00a0honkin\u00a0that The\u00a0Ashtons\u00a0would have been proud of during some\u00a0Funtime\u00a0back in the day, what a great tune.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the record wears on with its badges of\u00a0honor\u00a0worn on their sleeve it\u00a0schizophrenically\u00a0jumps from sleazy punk n roll to garage to dirty blues with\u00a0infinite\u00a0ease and\u00a0that’s\u00a0the beauty of this free spirit that\u2019ll scare the hell out of\u00a0and\u00a0some listeners\u00a0\u2018Salems Lot\u2019 sounds like it was belched from the depths of Satan’s back yard via his lounge band. Cool\u00a0Tune,\u00a0no question about it. The story is\u00a0narrated\u00a0like prime time Green\u00a0On\u00a0Reds Dan Stuart on a tequila bender.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hell,\u00a0this record gets better on each\u00a0play,\u00a0and it begs to be turned up as we ease back with some fuzzy countrified rock n roll on \u2018Film Noir\u2019 with the\u00a0out of step\u00a0yet perfectly timed guitar break.\u00a0Can I\u00a0hear a\u00a0Yee Haw for \u2018How\u2019d You Get\u00a0From\u00a0Here From\u00a0so\u00a0Far\u2019 showing the lighter side of Jack\u00a0Habegger’s\u00a0storytelling\u00a0and thigh\u00a0slappin\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Rock N Roll Matinee\u2019 is a straight up horn\u00a0honkin’\u00a0romp through some fine laid-back rock n roll,\u00a0whereas\u00a0\u2018The\u00a0Rumours\u00a0Are True\u2019 is\u00a0more of that good ole country\u00a0honkin’.\u00a0It’s\u00a0not all\u00a0a good time\u00a0as we kick back with a ballad, \u2018Latkes &\u00a0Brisket\u2019\u00a0that\u00a0has\u00a0visions of Pavement or\u00a0Cracker. The album is closed out with a romp through Stonewall\u00a0Jackson’s ‘I Washed My Hands\u00a0In\u00a0Muddy Waters\u2019\u00a0that\u00a0sounds\u00a0loose and\u00a0late\u00a0at\u00a0night with the exquisite, talented playing of Joe Dog lending a hand. \u00a0My advice is\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0brush over this review, a true melting pot of styles and sounds that actually works really well, get this in your ears and play it loud and many times, and you can come back and thank me later. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
