On the new record, <strong>David Rodriguez<\/strong> (vocals), <strong>Marc \u201cMeggers\u201d Eggers <\/strong>(drums), <strong>Jake Kolatis <\/strong>(guitar) and <strong>Doug Wellmon <\/strong>(bass), reignite their rage and cement their status as one of punk\u2019s most enduring and uncompromising acts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Casualties also share the lyric video to the blistering title track, a scathing hardcore-punk blast of fury and frustration, suggesting we should blow it all up and start anew. \u201c<em>It stems from being overloaded<\/em>,\u201d Meggerssays. \u201c<em>You feel like your head is about to explode, which I think is what everybody is feeling these days. You\u2019re pounced on day by day with terrible news and social media, and you just feel like you\u2019re going to snap<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thecasualties.ffm.to\/detonate\"><strong>Pre-Order &amp; Pre-Save The &#8216;Detonate&#8217; Album Here<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Politics. Hatred. Endless war. These are just a few of the reasons why the title of The Casualties\u2019 new album is <em>Detonate<\/em>. Instead of tearing each other apart, The Casualties punch back at authorities and systems that seek to divide, taking the chance to promote unity and camaraderie to all who feel alienated by the cruel state of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kolatis adds, \u201c<em>There are continuous wars and internal political battles. Everybody&#8217;s tearing each other apart. Detonate is saying we\u2019re tired of all this division. With this record, we have a chance to say something and promote some type of unity.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Detonate<\/em> is the second chapter in a new epoch for The Casualties. As their second album with Rodriguez at the mic, it solidifies the vocalist\u2019s partnership with Meggers and Kolatis. \u201c<em>It\u2019s like a new era for the band<\/em>,\u201d Meggers says. \u201c<em>It solidifies that Dave is here to stay<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the follow-up to 2018\u2019s <em>Written in Blood <\/em>and their first record for Hellcat Records \u2014 the Epitaph subsidiary curated by Tim Armstrong of <strong>Rancid <\/strong>\u2014 <em>Detonate<\/em> sees this new version of The Casualties locking into place. \u201c<em>We were in the studio for <\/em>Written in Blood<em> about eight months after I joined<\/em>,\u201d Rodriguez says. \u201cW<em>ith this new record, we really grew together. For me, it\u2019s the proud moment where we clicked the three Legos together<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Amplifying the punk ethos that The Casualties have embodied since 1990, <em>Detonate <\/em>is a powerful installment in the band&#8217;s rich history as a voice for the voiceless. \u201c<em>I want people to feel empowered when they hear this record<\/em>,\u201d Rodriguez says. \u201c<em>I want them to feel like they have a voice. I want them to feel like they\u2019re with like-minded people when they come to a Casualties show. They can be themselves and not watch the show but be part of the show\u2014scream with us, jump off the stage.
