Finally! The sixth studio album Dinosaur Jr. have recorded in the 20 years since their hibernation rebirth. They made this record over the course of a year at Amherst’s Bisquiteen Studio, ‘There Near’. Murph, Lou Barlow and of course the inimitable J Mascis make up these godfathers of a scene that they are becoming one of the last bands standing and remaining relevant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s an album that should come as no surprise to fans old and new, in as much as it is loud and unapologetic, as you’d want a Dinosaur Jr. record to be. It roars from start to finish. Mascis’ vocals are an instantly recognisable point, and to be fair, so are his trademark howling guitar breaks that sound like the amp is about to overheat or give up the ghost due to being rinsed, and this has been relentless throughout the band’s existence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
