The rest, as they say, is history.<a href=\"http:\/\/rpmonline.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Scott-Asheton.-009.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4453 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/rpmonline.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Scott-Asheton.-009.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>During the Stooges&#8217; separation, Scott was one of the few ex-members to play again with Pop, with the mini-reunion occurring during a 1978 European tour. Asheton also played drums with\u00a0Scott Morgan\u00a0in different bands, among which were the Scott Morgan Band, Scots Pirates, and most notably\u00a0Sonic&#8217;s Rendezvous Band.\u00a0<sup id=\"cite_ref-2\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>He then went on to play drums touring in a late incarnation of\u00a0Destroy All Monsters, under the name Dark Carnival. He also recorded extensively with\u00a0Sonny Vincent, playing drums on four full studio albums along with\u00a0Captain Sensible\u00a0on bass, as well as making special guest appearances on other Vincent releases. Following the death of Ron Asheton, the group worked with guitarist\u00a0James Williamson. Other than Iggy Pop, Asheton was the only consistent member of the Stooges after the death of his brother, guitarist Ron, in 2009.<a href=\"http:\/\/rpmonline.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Stooges-770.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-4455 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/rpmonline.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Stooges-770-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rpmonline.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Stooges-770-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/rpmonline.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Stooges-770-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/rpmonline.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Stooges-770.jpg 770w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After they played Hellfest Festival on June 17, 2011, he went into temporary retirement from live duty. He was replaced by Larry Mullins (a.k.a. Toby Dammit), who had played in Iggy Pop&#8217;s band in the 1990s.\u00a0He died of a heart attack in March 2014 at the age of 64.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/rpmonline.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/scott-rock-action.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-4451 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/rpmonline.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/scott-rock-action-223x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"223\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rpmonline.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/scott-rock-action-223x300.jpg 223w, https:\/\/rpmonline.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/scott-rock-action.jpg 421w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 223px) 100vw, 223px\" \/><\/a>I love that during an interview about the Ashton Brothers Iggy said of Scott hes\u00a0the least talkative person I know any words he needs to say he does it with his drums.\u00a0 He played on some of the most influential\u00a0records of all time for many of us here at RPM no question about it and it was pleasing that before he passed away he was able to reap some of the benefits of his work finally after the Stooges split the first time he was reduced to teaching\u00a0drums to anyone who wants teaching and scratching\u00a0around for a wage which is a travesty considering his contribution to an industry that couldn&#8217;t particularly give two shits for a period.\u00a0 A rock and roll hall of Famer\u00a0and drum legend.<\/p>\n<p>Scott leaves behind a pretty impressive catalogue\u00a0of records he played on from The Stooges and Sonny Vincent to Sonic&#8217;s Rendezvous\u00a0band The guy deserves legend status and that&#8217;s\u00a0what we afford him, Rest In Peace Rock Action you had rhythm coursing through your veins and a style and swagger that was the power behind such a monumental band as the Stooges.
