\"\"<\/a>Suzi<\/span>\u00a0Quatro<\/span>, who\u00a0more than lives up to her name as the \u201cQueen Of Rock N’ Roll\u201d, has signed with SPV \/ Steamhammer Records to release her stunning new studio album \u2018No Control\u2019 on March 29th.<\/sup><\/p>\n

The American rock vocalist has enjoyed success as a musician for more than fifty years, performing with unbridled energy\u00a0her greatest hits such as \u2018Can The Can\u2019, \u201848 Crash\u2019, \u2018If You Can’t Give Me Love\u2019, ‘She’s In Love With You’\u00a0and \u2018Devil Gate Drive\u2019, let alone wowing her fans again and again with her new material. It comes as no surprise that she\u2019s not thinking of retiring; \u201cI\u2019ll retire when I go onstage, shake my ass and there is silence\u201d she states, fully aware that that moment is still a long way off.<\/p>\n

The majority of \u2018No Control\u2019, which contains eleven brand new songs, (plus two bonus tracks), consists of collaborations with her son from her first marriage, Richard Tuckey.\u00a0Suzi<\/span>\u00a0explains \u201cThis was our first attempt at writing and recording something together. The creative progress began with \u2018Don\u2019t Do Me Wrong\u2019. And, through the unusually beautiful English summer of 2018, we sat outside, acoustic bass, acoustic guitar, iPad recording app, and lots of paper, throwing ideas back and forth.\u201d With amazing results, as the new album proves \u2013 to\u00a0Suzi<\/span>\u00a0herself not only on a musical but also on a personal level.<\/p>\n

Take, for example, \u2018No Soul\/No Control\u2019, which features the message \u201cDon`t let go of yourself for anyone\u201d;\u00a0Suzi<\/span>: \u201cThis is my personal mantra. All you have in this world is you.\u201d Remembering the conception of the composition, she says; \u201cWe were busy as hell, buried in the songs. Richard had a new idea and showed me. It was very unusual and I liked it. A very basic guitar and drum track was put down for me to work on the melody and lyric. I went into the living area of the studio and about 15 minutes later, it was done. It flew out of its own accord, as the best songs do.\u201d<\/p>\n

The same applies to numbers such as \u2018Macho Man\u2019 (Suzi<\/span>: \u201cIt\u2019s a no-brainer that this is an opening live song; you cannot help headbanging to it, it just grabs you\u201d), \u2018I Can Teach You To Fly\u2019 (\u201ca definite throwback to the sixties\u201d), \u2018Easy Pickings\u2019 (\u201cI\u2019ve been playing this riff on acoustic guitar forever, at least the last ten years. Then all of a sudden, it became a song\u201d) and \u2018Love Isn\u2019t Fair\u2019 (\u201cGot this idea sitting in our Hamburg home. I wanted to create a Blondie-meets-Mavericks song, and I think I accomplished that\u201d).<\/p>\n

Perhaps most unusual track on the album, \u2018Strings\u2019, has developed into a true little masterpiece during the studio recordings.\u00a0Suzi<\/span>: \u201cThis is all about the strings that tie our lives together. Great riff. I drove everyone mad singing nonstop in this weird voice \u2018Strings\u2019. I couldn\u2019t get it out of my head, and \u2013 hallelujah \u2013 it came out in the recording exactly as I\u2019d imagined.\u201d Then saxophone player Ray Beavis asked if he could do a horn arrangement. \u201cI didn\u2019t really hear it, but of course I said yes. What he came up with knocked us all off our feet. What a track!\u201d<\/p>\n

You can tell how proud\u00a0Suzi<\/span>\u00a0Quatro<\/span>\u00a0is of \u2018No Control\u2019; pride and delight at a career which has lasted for five decades and has maintained the creativity of the American rock icon to the present day.\u00a0Suzi<\/span>\u00a0states \u201cI\u2019ve never stopped releasing through the years. \u2018Back To The Drive\u2019 in 2006, \u2018In The Spotlight in 2011\u2019, \u2018Quatro<\/span>, Scott & Powell\u2019 in 2016. These albums were thought about and planned out in great detail. I am proud of all three releases, very proud. But my new album \u2018No Control\u2019 is its own animal.\u201d<\/p>\n
