The Libertines<\/b>\u00a0are tickled to\u00a0finally\u00a0unveil\u00a0the\u00a0\u2018First Phase\u2019\u00a0of\u00a0\u2018The Albion Rooms\u2019,<\/b>\u00a0their\u00a0vision to\u00a0convert a\u00a0five-story ten-room Victorian building overlooking the sea\u00a0in Margate into\u00a0a den of artistry (and occasional iniquity),\u00a0with\u00a0the opening of\u00a0two\u00a0bars and\u00a0a recording studio\u00a0at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 31st.<\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>The downstairs bar is\u00a0\u2018The Waste Land,\u2019<\/b>(as in the T.S Eliot poem,\u00a0written two doors down from\u00a0\u2018The Albion Rooms,\u2019<\/b>\u00a0whilst Eliot was recuperating from a nervous breakdown), will be open to the public all year round.\u00a0\u2018The Waste Land\u2019<\/b>\u00a0will be a home for international and local artists to perform poetry \/ live music and exhibit art. The Upstairs bar will initially be open to the public before\u00a0becoming a private bar and lounge space for the studio and\u00a0residents. For the first month both bars will only be open on\u00a0Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The state of the art recording studio is available for viewing and bookings.<\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>The Libertines acquired the keys to the\u00a0\u2018Albion Rooms,\u2019<\/b>\u00a031 Eastern Esplanade Margate\u00a0<\/b>CT9 2HL,\u00a0<\/b>in September 2017.\u00a0Carl Bar\u00e2t<\/b>\u00a0\u201cit might be a while before we challenge The Savoy or The Grand Budapest in the hotel stakes, but we\u2019ve put a lot of love into this. Meanwhile, it\u2019s a colourful and inspiring home for the Libertines and I look forward to the Albion Rooms becoming our very own Warholian Factory.\u201d<\/div>\n

The \u2018Second Phase,\u2019 the opening of\u00a0\u2018The Albion Rooms\u2019<\/b>\u00a0hotel and restaurant, is scheduled for early 2020 and will feature seven individually decorated rooms, including rooms themed by each member of The Libertines. The restaurant will feature local and guest chefs from across the globe to create distinctive and unique eating opportunities. Once completed\u00a0\u2018The Albion Rooms\u2019<\/b>\u00a0will be utilised as a functioning guest house, installation art space and residential studio.\u00a0\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Carl Bar\u00e2t\u00a0<\/b>and\u00a0Peter Doherty\u00a0<\/b>play two sold-out acoustic shows at\u00a0London\u2019s Hackney Empire on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th September, as part of Somewhere Festival.\u00a0\u00a0The Libertines\u00a0<\/b>also\u00a0<\/b>play the following shows in the UK and Europe this autumn and winter:<\/div>\n
