Following numerous sold-out headline shows and triumphant festival performances with\u00a0<strong>The Marcus King Band<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Marcus<\/strong>\u00a0recently announced a 32-date US winter tour in support of the new outing.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>El Dorado<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0is a contemporary sonic exploration of classic rock, blues, southern R&amp;B and country-soul, where subtle acoustics and pedal steel shine bright alongside raucous electric guitars and blistering solos. Following their previous collaboration on the song\u00a0<strong>\u2018How Long\u2019<\/strong>, from the current\u00a0<strong><em>Carolina Confessions<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0album (2018),\u00a0<strong>King\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Auerbach<\/strong>\u00a0co-wrote the 12 songs for\u00a0<strong>E<em>l Dorado<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0in only three days in the latter\u2019s Easy Eye Sound studio.<\/p>\n<p>On working with<strong>\u00a0Marcus<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Dan<\/strong>\u00a0stated:\u00a0<em>&#8220;Marcus is known by so many as a phenom guitar player, and rightfully so. He\u2019s regularly the best player in the room, hands down. I was equally blown away by the way he can sing \u2013 so effortless, so soulful, straight from the heart. He\u2019s a naturally gifted writer too, which was clear straight away. Everything for him is so innate \u2013 that\u2019s why he can always go right to the heart of a song and connect in a deeper way. He\u2019s really one of a kind and I\u2019m proud I got to work alongside him on this record.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Debut single,\u00a0<strong>\u2018The Well\u2019<\/strong>, a fuzzy, electric-blues composition which rumbles down the highway like\u00a0<strong>Marcus<\/strong>\u2019 jet black El Dorado, premiered today with\u00a0<em>Rolling Stone<\/em>\u00a0who stated: \u201c<em>The result is an album that expands on King\u2019s established Southern jam-rock sound. On \u2018The Well,\u2019 the first song released from \u2018El Dorado,\u2019 King embraces the blues, firing off ferocious solos and singing about the fantasy of \u2018easy street\u2019. In short, it doesn\u2019t exist, but that doesn\u2019t stop King from pining for better times<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The song\u2019s lyrics reflect on hard work and hard times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>When you have a $70 check go bad, you know times are tough<\/em><em>,&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0<strong>Marcus<\/strong>\u00a0recalls, adding, \u201c<strong>\u2018<em>The Well\u2019\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><em>for me symbolizes the source of all my influences. It is everything that has happened to me to make me the man I am today<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Playing professionally since he was 11 years old,\u00a0<strong>Marcus King<\/strong>\u00a0is a fourth-generation musician who followed in his family\u2019s footsteps. His grandfather was a country guitarist and his father continues to perform live.\u00a0<strong>Marcus<\/strong>\u2019 pursuit of music often made him feel like an outsider, but equally provided comfort, especially when he was 13 and lost a friend during a tragic car crash.<\/p>\n<p>Reflects<strong>\u00a0Marcus<\/strong>: \u201c<em>She was the first girl I had feelings for, that was a really heavy moment, and writing songs was my expression. I also had undiagnosed bipolar disorder and my appearance and interests were not embraced by my educators and their pupils. They were good folks, but it kind of felt like being in prison and all I really needed to learn was music.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the age of 23,\u00a0<strong>Marcus King<\/strong>\u00a0has already been performing live for 15 years, establishing himself as an enthralling world class live music talent. He has appeared on\u00a0<em>The Late Show with Stephen Colbert<\/em>, made his debut at\u00a0The Grand Ole Opry\u00a0and performed with Chris Stapleton on a recent US arena tour; he has also played at the Crossroads Guitar Festival (founded by Eric Clapton) and at sold-out headline shows including his namesake event \u2013\u00a0<strong>The Marcus King Band Family Reunion<\/strong>. Previous\u00a0<strong>Marcus King<\/strong>\u00a0releases have received critical acclaim from the likes of VICE Noisey and Rolling Stone, who described him as an artist you need to know plus an \u201c<em>electrifying rock performer<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>El Dorado<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0was written and recorded at\u00a0<strong>Auerbach<\/strong>\u2019s Nashville studio, Easy Eye Sound, with legendary writers including\u00a0<strong>Paul Overstreet<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Ronnie Bowman<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Pat McLaughlin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Auerbach<\/strong>\u00a0also enlisted revered studio musicians including drummer\u00a0<strong>Gene Chrisman<\/strong>\u00a0and keyboard player\u00a0<strong>Bobby Wood<\/strong>.
