California legends Redd Kross have announced their first UK and European\u00a0headline dates in several years\u00a0including two intimate dates at The Lexington in London which promise to be evenings to remember.<\/p>\n

Steven McDonald had the following to say:<\/p>\n

Beyond the Door<\/em>\u00a0is an album inspired by the band\u2019s\u00a0\u201ctotal commitment to having the best f*cking time we can have while we\u2019re all still here\u201d<\/em>\u00a0(what they like to call \u201cThe Party\u201d). Musically, it\u2019s guitars, bass, and drums topped with a generous portion of sweet vocal melodies often delivered with an ambiguous edge.\u00a0The album marks Redd Kross\u2019 most collaborative record to date. Steven describes this evolution: \u201cJeff is still very much the driving force behind the compositions, but with more help from me than ever. Jeff and I haven\u2019t shared this much of the writing and singing since Born Innocent in 1981.\u201d Guitarist Jason Shapiro and drummer Dale Crover (Melvins, OFF!) are longtime members of the Redd Kross live band, but this album marks the pair\u2019s recorded debut with the group. Mixed in Los Angeles by Steven McDonald,\u00a0Beyond the Door<\/em>\u00a0includes notable guest appearances from Anna Waronker (That Dog), Ger\u00e9 Fennelly, Buzz Osborne (Melvins), and Josh Klinghoffer.<\/p>\n

On the surface, the album title is a playful reference to an Italian horror film the McDonald brothers watched as children, a loose rip-off of both The Exorcist and Rosemary\u2019s Baby that stars Juliet Mills of \u201970s television program Nanny and the Professor. But like all things Redd Kross, it would be a sad injustice to stop digging there. No one knows what lies\u00a0Beyond the Door<\/em>\u2026 but we\u2019re all in front of it.<\/p>\n

Inspirations as varied as K-pop, glitter gangs, embarrassed tweens, long-term relationships, a mysterious character named Fant\u00e1stico Roberto, and much more all contributed to\u00a0Beyond the Door,\u00a0<\/em>an album that lures the listener into Redd Kross\u2019 secret club full of riddles and inside jokes, with the ultimate reward of the perfect pop moment!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
