Wonk Unit<\/strong>, the unique punk phenomenon born out of the South London town of Croydon, are seeing 2019 out in style and with a smile, with a UK tour in December and a live album \u2018Love In Chapan\u2019. Recorded live at Wonkfest, the bands now legendary annual festival event at The Dome, North London on the 1st<\/sup>\u00a0of July 2017, the album captures the very essence and heart of the Wonk Unit live experience and sound.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\u201cI\u2019d sat on the recording of \u2018Love in Chapan\u2019 for over a year before I listened,\u201d explains explains frontman\u00a0Alex Johnson.<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cLive recordings are always so bad right. It was gonna be a job to get mixed which I\u2019d been putting off. So, from the get-go I\u2019m blown away by just how good the desk mixes were. It\u2019s near impossible to capture the energy of a live gig and I found myself pumped. Legit pumped. These didn\u2019t even need mixing! Wonkfest 2017 was unique. A first for Wonk. The first time we\u2019d got the whole band together to gig. My sister on stage, my mum was even there. Turn this up loud, it\u2019s ferocious. We could have mixed it but that kinda defeats the object. A lot of \u201clive\u201d albums are bullshit. Overdubs and overplays and fake audience. We left all the mistakes in, cut a bit of my waffle and mastered it. It\u2019s the perfect Wonk gig, captured for your living room. We even done commentaries on the dvd. No one is safe.<\/p>\n

The roots of Wonk Unit stretch back to 1992 with a band called The Flying Medallions who were young, dumb and up for fun, courting chaos and controversy at a time when punk was very much dead in the UK. Wonk Unit formed in 2005 and have since created their own ever-expanding peerless world of sound, colour, art and friendship.<\/p>\n
