‘Tis the season to be jolly and giving, so buckle up motherfuckers. The Gasölines are in da house, and they are burning down the house with some proper, greasy, low-down down dirty, loud, sweaty Rock n Fuckin Roll. There’s no time to fuck about, this has got the bells and whistles and is heading straight for the jugular. It is a rock and roll banger. Simple as that. Fast and furious and channelling the spirit of The Four Horsemen, The Hip Priests, Lemmy and Discharge and a whole ton of noisy fuckers who preceded them. Bristling with energy, and sweat and no doubt trucker caps on top of a whole lot of hair. Legs akimbo – biker boots on the monitor wedge and Rock!

From the opening chords, you get the picture, it’s zero fucks given and let’s turn it up. Of course, you’re ‘Riding Shotgun’ on said opener, but they turn up the heat on a rampant ‘Devil Deuce’ as those guitars wail and drums sound like thunder.

It is pure middle-finger rock, these are just guys rockin’ out their dreams through Marshall amps and a whole heap of attitude. No time for niceties or autotuning, it’s all about the attitude and melody ‘Dead Man’s Hand’ has it all, from the stinking attitude to the subtle melody and gang vocals lending a hand. The band aren’t wrong when they describe it as an angry album, but there’s a lot to be pissed off about in the world today, but this isn’t one of them. I love ‘Bucking The Tiger’, the energy is full on, but the melody is there, and the playing is locked in. The riff is huge and dirty, filthy dirty and those floor toms sound like they were carved in the Grand Canyon.

The shake-up in the band’s ranks seems to have injected the right attitude into the band, and the chemistry is paying off more like sticking a bomb under their collective backsides. The tunes keep coming, and the tempo is relentless ‘Ace In The Whole’ is a runaway train of a song with Andreas pouring Gasoline on the fire. This isn’t an album for the faint-hearted or people looking to chill out unless breaking things and raising the temperature is your way of chillin, that is.

There are moments throughout this album that just hit you like a gutpunch, like ‘A Bomb Pinup’ is on fire! Everyone is locked in and literally singing from the same hymn sheet, and today’s sermon is Let’s Rock! It’s like C.O.F.F.I.N. on steroids, in fact, the more I play the album, the more I want to play the album and the final push from ‘Wreckin Ball’ is the best Hard Rockin snotty punk I’ve heard since the Hip Priests were a thing.

Does anyone remember The Four Horsemen? Well, this is like that minus the polished American southern boogie aspect and replacing it with grit, and sounds like they threw a petrol bomb into the studio ‘Speed Trap’ is the manifestation of that smouldering studio. There are ten tracks, one as good as the next and setting the blueprint for how to lay down this kind of zero fucks punk n roll, so go get an earful of The mother fuckin Gasölines

The second album from the Norwegian high-octane rockers The Gasölines! The band embodies the whole greasy, dirty liquor-swigging Rock and Rollas. they embrace every cliche and wear it like a badge of honour and why the fuck not? They riff on a steady diet of what’s gone before them from the 1950s through the 1990s and into the 2020s. With a rigid middle digit in the air and smoke coming off the oil-soaked floors turn this sucker up!

“We didn’t invent the wheel on this album. There’s no need to. Rock will forever kick the elite hipsters’ asses with their man buns, fancy coffee, electric kick scooters and vegan smoothies. This is pure rock’n’roll with proper amps, only mics on drums, no autotune, just four guys having a blast in studio”, says Morten Gasöline. A big antagonistic claim that you just have to back up. Cars, Beer, Women, gambling all the ingredients that have been a staple of this genre.

The album kicks off with the DC riff-a-rama of ‘Rum Runner 500’ with its solid beat and wailing solo as the riffs come hard and fast. It’s exactly what I was expecting and true to their words the band pile in – it’s macho and whilst its not original at all its authentic and they certainly sound like they walk the walk. The pace is picked up on ‘Grand Prix’ as they shift through the gears and turn up the tempo for a much better song.

To be fair ‘Dragstrip Inferno’ is sort of a halfway house of the opening two songs with wailing guitar solos and more lyrics about fast cars it doesn’t take a genius to work out what these cats are all about. when they break away from singing about motors ‘Hellbreaker’ bursts into life on a rumbling bassline that is thick as a builders sandwich and they hit a decent groove. The track ‘Snakebite’ is more of the same (surprisingly) sounding like a Gene Simmons Kiss song with a growling gravelly vocal over a solid backbeat.

You also get some punk rock n roll in ‘Burning Dice’ and a little of what they were probably listening to before heading to the studio as some Dirty Deeds era DC filters through their DNA. Spread out over ten tracks it’s a heavy beast and at times laces a little variety but when they hit their groove they sound on fire. Turn it up kids it’ll annoy your parents as their forefathers did and that’s always a great starting point. Play Loud! Like the band obviously did when recording this beast and the artwork is awesome and reason alone why you should check these out.
