Peter Doherty has released ten albums – three with The Libertines Up The Bracket (2002), The Libertines(2004) & Anthems For Doomed Youth(2015); three with Babyshambles: Down In Albion (2005), Shotters Nation (2007) & Sequel To The Prequel (2013); two solo albums: Grace/Wastelands (2009) & Hamburg Demonstrations (2017); one as Peter Doherty & The Puta Madres (2019) and most recently a collaboration with Frederic Lo The Fantasy Life of Poetry & Crime (2022).

TRAMPOLENE & PETER DOHERTY are making available a new track, ‘Uncle Brian’s Abattoir,’ written and recorded during the Corona Virus Lockdown in Swansea, London  & Normandy. Jack Jones from Trampolene recorded his spoken word piece on his phone in Swansea and wired it to producer Mike Moore in London who added the music and then forwarded it to Peter Doherty in Normandy who put his vocals down on his phone and emailed it back to Mike Moore, who put it all together. ‘Uncle Brian’s Abattoir’ is released via Strap Originals/Cargo Records and is available now to stream or buy from: Here

Trampolene singer Jack Jones: “Uncle Brians Abattoir came about when I was picking up my little cousin from an after school art class…she had painted a paradise where animals and humans lived in harmony but mistakenly called it an Abattoir…I found the whole thing very charming and jotted it down in my notes…So its about an abattoir…but not as you know it…its taken straight out of a childs imagination. It has taken on another meaning for me lately as it is also about slowly going mad being stuck indoors during the Lockdown”
Producer, multi instrumentalist and guitarist with Liam Gallagher, Mike Moore says of the recording:  “it’s a bit like that kids’ drawing game where someone draws the head, folds the paper and passes it on.Someone else draws the body and so on. Then the reveal is the surprise to everyone involved.”
The video was edited together from footage shot on phones in The Mumbles (Jack’s home) and Etretat (Peter’s Lockdown home) by Katia de Vidas (The Puta Madres). The Artwork was painted during the Lockdown) by Trampolene bass player Wayne Thomas, who also makes a cameo appearance in the video swinging from a tree.
The Libertines are tickled to finally unveil the ‘First Phase’ of ‘The Albion Rooms’, their vision to convert a five-story ten-room Victorian building overlooking the sea in Margate into a den of artistry (and occasional iniquity), with the opening of two bars and a recording studio at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 31st.
The downstairs bar is ‘The Waste Land,’(as in the T.S Eliot poem, written two doors down from ‘The Albion Rooms,’ whilst Eliot was recuperating from a nervous breakdown), will be open to the public all year round. ‘The Waste Land’ will be a home for international and local artists to perform poetry / live music and exhibit art. The Upstairs bar will initially be open to the public before becoming a private bar and lounge space for the studio and residents. For the first month both bars will only be open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The state of the art recording studio is available for viewing and bookings.
The Libertines acquired the keys to the ‘Albion Rooms,’ 31 Eastern Esplanade Margate CT9 2HL, in September 2017. Carl Barât “it might be a while before we challenge The Savoy or The Grand Budapest in the hotel stakes, but we’ve put a lot of love into this. Meanwhile, it’s a colourful and inspiring home for the Libertines and I look forward to the Albion Rooms becoming our very own Warholian Factory.”
The ‘Second Phase,’ the opening of ‘The Albion Rooms’ hotel and restaurant, is scheduled for early 2020 and will feature seven individually decorated rooms, including rooms themed by each member of The Libertines. The restaurant will feature local and guest chefs from across the globe to create distinctive and unique eating opportunities. Once completed ‘The Albion Rooms’ will be utilised as a functioning guest house, installation art space and residential studio.

Born January 1969 Cranford would or should have just turned 50 but sadly never made it this far. Cranford left behind a wife and two children when he checked out in 2002 from drug releated issues.

Cranford headed up his band The Malakas as well as playing solo sadly he didn’t make it long enough to record a lot of the songs he was working on which are available on his website. Cranford struggled with addiction during his brief life but he was able to write some great tunes like the one we’re playing here he pretty much wrote straight from the head and the heart singing about what he saw and how he was living.  I thought he was a massive talent and its such a shame that he never got to show off those songs to a wider audience.  R.I.P Cranford Gone but not forgotten.

Also on this day in 2013 Iron Maiden Drummer Clive Burr lost his battle with multiple sclerosis. Burr was Maidens drummer between 79 and 82. R.I.P. Clive had previously plied his trade with Samson before moving onto Maiden and played on their three finest records before being replaced after falling foul of Harris. Strangely enough, Burr went on to replace his replacement Nicko McBrain in Trust.  funny old world eh? Oh and for all you metal fans The guy who fired Burr celebrates his Birthday today Born in 1956 Happy Birthday Steve Harris.

But we can’t have all this sadness without a ripple of light coming through on this day so Happy Birthday Graham Coxon guitarist with Blur who was born on this day in Germany to English parents and finally Peter Doherty was also born on this day in 1979.

“We believe the act of creating public artworks is visual activism, punk
ethics have always been at the very core of it’s soul. We are arming an inactive society with an alternative knowledge, standing up to ongoing vilification by the press and their immoral standards, and to the authorities who encourage the soulless gentrification and social control in our public space, whilst ignoring their duty of care.”
‘Peter Doherty & The Puta Madres’ will be available on Vinyl in a gatefold sleeve (SOLP1), CD (SOCD1), Cassette (SOCASS1), Deluxe CD (SOCD1X) & Deluxe Vinyl (SOLP1X) (including live album and film)and digital download.
‘Peter Doherty & The Puta Madres’ was recorded at a family home overlooking a fishing village in Étretat Normandy, over 4 days last summer and mixed at Urchin Studios (East London). The album is engineered by Dan Cox (Laura Marling, Thurston Moore, Florence & The Machine)and produced by Jai Stanley (longtime friend and manager). All the songs from the album were road-tested over the last 18 months across Europe at Festivals and headline shows.
Songs include the reflective ‘All At Sea,’ the raw ‘Punk Buck Bonafide,’ the upbeat and playful ‘Shoreleave,’ the joyous hymn of liberation ‘Paradise Is Under Your Nose,’ ‘Someone Else To Be’ Peter’s re-imagining of  the Velvet Underground’s ‘Ride Into The Sun’ and Oasis’ ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger, ‘Traveling Tinker’ an elegy to Peter’s friend Alan Wass and ‘Who’s Been Having You Over’ with dialogue from the 1948 film adaption of Graham Greene ‘Brighton Rock’ and the cheeky poke at his own notoriety…or is it,“Your so Rock & Roll.”
