Well, these are strange times and Rock and Roll won’t be clamped down even if we are.  Thanks to the magic of this here interweb we can still get our mitts on new music (gloved up of course) first up on this playlist is a right banger from Noo Yawk Citys Wyldlife . It’s recently been reviewed on RPM and I happen to agree with Ben when he claimed it could be a contender for record of the year. We have added ‘Sacre Bleu’ to our banging playlist.

Next up is a band from Sweden called Dictator Ship and Fraser covered this one and ‘Your Favourite’ is a great slice of scandiRock with ‘Eat The Poor’ making the cut in our Playlist.

Australia is quickly becoming the epicentre of Global Garage Rock and you sure can add The Chats to that list of fine Australian bands and with their recent record ‘High Risk Behaviour’ hitting the shelves we’ve included ‘ The Kids Need Guns’ to our playlist with its classic DC early days rawness and their snotty lyrics The Chats rightly are causing a stir around this globe all of their own.

It’s not all snotty records this month we did have some offerings from the Classic Rock and Grunge crossover of Buffalo Summer so included the excellent ‘Hit The Ground Running’ taken off their recently released album ‘Desolation Blue’ with some fine cool slide on the otherwise beefy riffs it’s a real tour de force from Soth Wales on this new album.

It might have been a lifetime ago that The Psychedelic Furs last released a new album but the wait is over and Made Of Rain is almost upon us.  We’ve included the first single taken from the record ‘You’ll Be Mine’.

Naked Six have a new album out and the lead track off that album is ’21st Century Brawl’ and that makes our playlist with its jarring poke before the album kicks off with some great tunes. Well worth investigating so let this opener suck you in but don’t forget to buckle up.

Ben found his stereo working overtime as The City Kids released ‘Things That Never Were’ so we’ve added ‘You Get Nothing’ To our playlist.

I know a girl, a girl called Party, Party Girl.  Bono sang that but the Dahlmanns sing ‘Party Girl’ which was released as part of a split with Tommy & The Rockets on Beluga Records a classic castanets clacking slice of power pop with saxophone and New Wave approved piano.

Then Comes Silence who we include ‘Devils’ from their most excellent ‘Machines’ album that was recently reviewed with some dark Goth undertones this has been on heavy rotation around some RPM circles as the corpse paint went on and certain writers were only venturing out after dark with this on their playlists.  Get on it kids.

If a bit of Goth isn’t your thang then why not grow out those sidies and  some facial hair and get on down with Rookie. We’ve got ourselves a ‘One Way Ticket’ to listen to this great playlist and ride out this Global pandemic.

As well as some awesome reviews April sees us bring some news that bands push out so why not include some of the movers and shakers who are busy this month either re arranging tours or putting the final touches on new releases. How about some Rock with American Jetset? ‘Gold & Nines’ is classic cock rock n roll so it makes the cut.  Our old friend Jizzy Pearl also announced that he has signed a new deal with Golden Robot Records so expect some new music and live shows soon. We head back to when he did the album ‘Just A Boy’ and include the cracker ‘Do You Wanna Get High’.

With everybody with a guitar and camera phone shooting home shows we have a few suggestions of who you could check out starting with Rich Ragany & The Digressions who bring ‘Later Than It Is’ to our playlist off the excellent debut album and rumour has it that recording has begun for the follow up which commenced before this lockdown but be sure we’ll bring you the news as and when.

Another artist smashing the numbers watching his home broadcast is Mike Peters with his ‘Big Night In’ I’ve not tuned in yet but rest assured I will.  Heres one from his recent output ’13 Dead Raindeers’.  Another live streamer is Jesse Malin  who we also interviewed recently and who has a brand new single out sadly it’s not on this service yet so make do with a cut off his last album ‘Chemical Heart’.

There’s fifteen reasons to stay in and have RPM Playlist be your companion and while away the hours playing some quality rock and roll . Go on a journey of discovery and see where it takes you as you avoid the rocks on the choppy water of Rock and Roll 2020.

US Rock n Roll Band, AMERICAN JETSET, have released their first full lenght album ‘Saloon Rock Whiskey Pop‘ back in February 2020. The album can be streamed here.

The album is produced and mixed by Scott Spelbring (KIX). Mastered by Ian Kaine MacGregor.

After decades of candy-coated pop, vanilla indie, and corporate rap, a new generation of Rock & Roll has emerged. The hysteria spurred by Greta van fleet, Rival Sons, and The Struts has reached a fever pitch and rock fans are dying for more.

Enter AMERICAN JETSET. Channeling the heroes of the 1980s Sunset Strip era, the Jetset boys are direct descendants of those sleeping giants, and their anthemic hooks and animated live show have been turning heads from Charm City to Hollywood.

The acoustic sing-along is one of the album’s finest compositions. It features the gorgeous, glowing background vocals of Christina Oliviero before the band rides off into the sunset, vowing to return someday. Mission accomplished. – Sleaze Roxx

American Jetset crashed into my world over a year ago because of their great songs, and this release shows that they were not a one-trick pony. Pick up this album and prepare to sing your butt off while these songs remind you of how good music can make you feel. – RPM Online

AMERICAN JETSET is:

Ian Kaine MacGregor – Vocals, Guitars
Lance Reeder – Lead Guitar
Kevin Harrington – Bass
Jeff Bradford – Drums

With an impressive EP, the band continued their rise in 2019. They went to California and back supporting Tom Keifer of CinderellaJack Russell’s Great WhiteFaster PussycatLiving ColourLA Guns, and a sold-out hometown performance with SlaughterWill Greenberg of Will to Rock Magazine wrote “Every now and then a new band pops up on your radar that has that extra something AMERICAN JETSET have those intangibles. If they keep making the same kick-ass music that they’ve included on their debut, the sky is the limit.

AMERICAN JETSET is back in the saddle in 2020 with their sophomore release Saloon Rock Whiskey Pop, and the record is a killer collection of no frills rock & roll the way it’s meant to be played. From the swagger of “Walking Contradiction” to the country-tinged “Getaway Car” to the unbridled stomp of “1000 Ghosts”, AMERICAN JETSET never pulls back on the reins. Jeff Onorato of Sleaze Roxx Magazine said “I was blown away by what I heard. The Sunset Strip era of hard rock is one of my favorites and they had resurrected that sound in a way that I hadn’t heard in quite some time.

AMERICAN JETSET’s 2020 tour will take them coast-to-coast supporting Jack Russell’s Great WhiteEnuff Z’NuffKixCharm City DevilsBlackfoot, and Pretty Boy Floyd. Get ready, Monsters…you tell ’em they’re coming and Hell’s coming with ‘em!

American Jetset arrived in the world a little over a year ago and immediately impressed me on their debut EP ‘Live Love Die on Main.’ It quickly became a fixture in my rotation for the rest of the year. This release I suppose could fall in the mini-album category at six songs plus an intro. If you rewind 35 years, these songs would now be lodged into your brain by being played over and over again over the years as they would have been stars on the Sunset Strip, but the nice thing is American Jetset injects a healthy dose of a modern feel into their sound.

‘Welcome to Devil’s Canyon’ serves as a brief intro track that takes across the desert and into town as the train passes by. Drums rise in the background until we hear a woman scream that takes us into the sleazy awesome ‘Walking Contradiction.’ I love the bass intro by Kevin Harrington as it really sets up the entire song. With a sleazy groove that reminds me of early Faster Pussycat with some Junkyard added into the mix, this one contains a great hook in the chorus both vocally and musically. Ian Kaine MacGregor (also guitar) possesses a voice that can be really smooth but can also carry a slight sleazy whine when it is needed.  ‘Gold and Nines’ keeps up the excellence with a commercial feel, huge chorus, and plenty of guitar licks throughout the song to make you break out the air guitar. They even add in a part totally designed for a crowd to sing the chorus with them which makes it extremely contagious on even a first listen.

Lance Reeder and MacGregor have loaded these songs with plenty of guitar riffs and solos so even the mid-tempo ‘One More Time Around’ features an excellent riff and a vibe that just screams celebrating life, this moment, and blocking out whatever wall reality may be ready to throw at you. It makes me wish I had the ability to play guitar. They take a slight turn on ‘Getaway Car’ which adds the slightest of twangs to the music but is in no way a country song as it is still clearly a rock song, just more subdued. The backing vocals give it some nice depth, and the guitar solo works perfectly.

‘1000 Ghosts’ features a quick riff that provides an immediate hook to the song that sticks to you like maple syrup on your feet. They then lay into a catchy chorus that will likely find you singing along as you’re bouncing around the room, car, etc. The final song ‘Never Be Goodbye’ provides that acoustic campfire kind of send off that works perfectly for this release. As the band’s stature grows, this could turn into one of those moments where it is just the crowd singing and clapping as the band prepares for an encore.

At just about 20 minutes, there are no wasted moments here. It is over way too fast and leaves you wanting more. The solution is, of course, to play the whole thing over again, and, if you don’t have them yet, I recommend adding the first EP and the ‘This Ain’t Hollywood’ single to your mix for more of a full album experience. American Jetset crashed into my world over a year ago because of their great songs, and this release shows that they were not a one-trick pony. Pick up this album and prepare to sing your butt off while these songs remind you of how good music can make you feel.

February 14, 2019 (Baltimore, MD) – American Jetset release their first music video and want everybody to “Go it Alone” this Valentines Day.
The sights, sounds, and mood of the footage expose the band’s DIY philosophy and in the words of singer, Ian Kaine MacGregor, “It’s not pretty, it’s rock and roll with all the bumps and bruises that come with it.” Armed with a volunteer crew, the band shot and edited the entire video on a pair of iPhones, using their hometown as a backdrop to this sleaze influenced track.
“Go it Alone” appears on American Jetset’s Live Love Die on Main EP, released at the tail end of 2018. Since then, the song has been an independent rock radio success and is currently playing on 90+ FM stations in over 20 countries worldwide. On top of that, the attention garnered by the single led to high profile tour dates with Faster Pussycat, Bang Tango, Every Mother’s Nightmare, Kickin Valentina, and Babylon Shakes.
The video for “Go it Alone” is 100% American Jetset – gritty, grimy, and steeped in their “no label, no thanks” attitude. Download the single and the rest of their EP free at Bandcamp and add it to your Apple Music and Spotify playlists today.
