synth-driven power-poppers from Seattle, Chicago and Vancouver, have just released their latest single on Sweden’s Beluga Records. The vinyl seven-inch single features the band’s newest composition “Diana” and is backed with the song “Licht Aus”, a cover song by the 80’s German new wave band Nichts. The new single follows Autogramm’s tradition of crafting sing-along new wave anthems, but this time with a darker twist. “Diana” subtly fuses the tick-tack rhythms, motorik basslines and melancholic vocals of Speak & Spell era Depeche Mode and Human League, with the scorching guitars and emotional intensity of TSOL or Billy Idol. Bassist C.C. Voltage explains, “The bass line came to me while I was working. I was able to use my break time to grab a cheap synthesizer and track the idea quickly on Garageband. The Silo was able to polish up the ideas in his studio in Chicago and Jiffy used my scratch vocal idea to create the rest of the eerie atmosphere of the song.” The new Autogramm single comes in conjunction with the announcement of their European tour dates this March.

The album has already graced the pages of international press like Exclaim, Under the Radar, Goldmine, Austin Town Hall, Visions (DE), Musik Express (DE), Happy Mag (AU), and Heatwave (UK). With their new album Music That Humans Can Play the band dedicated themselves to bringing in sounds from influences like The Fixx, David Bowie, Cheap Trick, The Boys, The Dickies, Jay Reatard, and Prince. The result is a decisively cohesive album that will fit in easily to the 80s section of your record collection, with songs so well-crafted they probably deserve to be on the soundtrack of Fast Times at Ridgemont High

2024 sees no let up in the re-release of the Slade back catalogue many on vinyl for the first time or at least wonderful coloured variant represses. Let’s take a wander through Studio album number god knows how many Slade were turning the amps up there with the best of em and ear-shattering powerful boogie hard rock had shifted the Glam stomping of what made the band such a household name in the 70s. With Holder’s vocals in fine fettle, they could certainly go toe to toe with the biggest and best. the previous releases prove that from the Reading LP, they were a formidable live act and in the studio, they could turn out hit after hit.

The power that was ushered to the forefront through the barnstorming opener ‘Rock n Roll Preacher’ Followed by the bluesy ‘Lock Up Your Daughter’ the band could still deliver and probably deserved more respect than they got. I’m still not convinced with the keyboards and after all these years I’m still of the same opinion Slade didn’t need to move with what was hip or trendy they had the tools to rock n roll in the vocals and guitar department anyway never mind the super tight rhythm section that was a match for any band on either side of the Atlantic.

The title track reminds me of The Who, Super Yob was certainly in form throughout this record. I’d love to hear a mix without the keys especially on the bluesy ‘M’hat M’Coat’ it sounds more like Gary Moore than Slade. But to be fair when they just got on with the Rock n Roll they still cut it. Their sense of humour is still intact through the lyrics and the song titles ‘Knuckle Sandwich Nancy’ is a particular highlight. Sure it’s not as good as some of the earlier releases but worth shelling out for the collection for sure.

To be fair the real beacon of light out of these pair of releases from Slade has to be the live concert LP recorded in the ‘New Victoria’ It did come out on CD as part of the Worlds A Stage Box set that came out recently and alongside the Reading tapes, this is one Hell of a concert. Recorded in 75 at the peak of the bands powers. Its twelve tracks from a 1975 show on vinyl for the first time and packs a rather splendid punch from the opening ‘Them Kinda Monkeys Can’t Swing’ is the signal for a riotous performance from one of the world best live bands at the time. No question they were at the zenith of what a party could be had at a Rock and Roll show.

The tracklist is packed with dance floor fillers and mile-wide grin guarantees. ‘Gudbuy T’Jane’ a spectacular ‘Far Far Away’ from ‘In Flames’ and the breather that is ‘How Does It Feel’ before the roof gets blow off with the awesome ‘Let The Good Times Roll’ before closing off what sounds like a spectacular night with the chart-topping legendry ‘Mama Weer All Crazee Now’ and for any aspiring rock and roll band wondering how to turn in some top tunes bristling with energy and delivered with the utmost professionalism then look no further than Slade live at the new Victoria. Its a keeper just buy it!

Swedish post-punk outfit Then Comes Silence, has announced they will release their new single, ‘Ride or Die’ on March 1. Ahead of that, they share the first taste of their seventh album ‘Trickery’.

The band recently signed to Metropolis Records for the release of this record, which celebrates friendship, unity and belonging to a group – your tribe. The first single, ‘Ride or Die’, which has already reached #3 in Germany’s authoritative DAC Charts, will be released on March 1.

Hailing from Stockholm, Then Comes Silence was founded by Alex Svenson in 2012, originally inspired by frequent touring with A Place To Bury Strangers and an attraction to horror and the occult. Today he is joined by drummer Jonas Fransson and Hugo Zombie (Los Carniceros del Norte) on guitar.

‘Trickery’ follows their 2022  album ‘Hunger’, released via Nexilis Records / Schubert Music (Europe) and Metropolis Records (North America). After dual record deals for the past few albums, Then Comes Silence has signed exclusively with Metropolis Records for this album.

“For this forthcoming album ‘Trickery’, we had a change of deal and went full member of the Metropolis Records family. We are ready to embrace the crowd again with our heart and can’t wait to get the album out,” says frontman Alex Svenson.

Recorded by Jörgen Wall (Jay-Jay Johanson, The Hellacopters) over three days at Stockholm’s Kapsylen Studio and mixed by Tom van Heesch (Rammstein, Apocalyptica, Backyard Babies), this album was mastered by Svante Forsbäck / Chartmakers (Rammstein, Amaranthe, Ville Valo, The Rasmus, Apocalyptica).

These sessions capture the heart and essence of rock. With electronic elements being essential to the new recordings, ‘Trickery’ is also a salute to punk music, to which Then Comes Silence traces their roots.

After debuting with their eponymous album in 2012, Then Comes Silence put out two more albums before releasing ‘Blood’ via Nuclear Blast in 2016. Their subsequent ‘Machine’ album was jointly released via Oblivion/SPV and Metropolis Records in 2020.

Then Comes Silence unexpectedly became a three-piece just ahead of their 2022 US tour, then setting out to answer the question “could they continue with only three members”? Proving to work well, the band transformed into a trio, their metamorphosis leading to a different way of creating music and performing live.

Then Comes Silence has toured and played live with The Fields of the Nephilim, The Chameleons, A Place To Bury Strangers and most recently with The Bellwether Syndicate and Vision Video. With many festivals to their name, highlights include M’era Luna, Wave Gotik Treffen, Amphi Festival, Castle Party and W-Festival.

As of March 1, ‘Ride or Die’ will be unleashed digitally everywhere, including Apple MusicSpotify and Bandcamp. The full ‘Trickery’ album will be released on vinyl and CD, as well as digitally, on April 5. Kicking off in late April and May, Then Comes Silence will be touring North America extensively with Vision Video.

Aerial Salad return with new album ‘R.O.I.’ due for release via Venn Records on April 12th

Pre-order ‘R.O.I.’ HERE:

It’s with good reason that Aerial Salad describes themselves as Madchester Punk. From their formation in 2016, the power trio were always as in love with the Happy Mondays and Stone Roses as they were with The Fall or Buzzcocks. Their 2020 ‘Dirt Mall’ album certainly hinted at this cross-pollination of styles and sounds, but it’s on their forthcoming new album ‘R.O.I’, due April 12th via Venn Records, that they’ve really seen the union of different inspirations come to a successful fruition. And none more so than in the thrilling new single ‘Tied To Pieces Of Paper’, which is let loose today…

“It’s inspired by something I read where Steve Ignorant from Crass was saying that, back in the day, humans had less reliance on money (not needing phones, broadband, and houses being affordable) meaning that, you could go and be a fuckin punk rocker and do a bit of cash in hand work and you’d be alright,” explains vocalist/guitarist Jamie Munro. “These days the world is so driven by money and thus, employment, the song is a shout-out to everyone that’s still trying to do creative endeavours alongside managing a fuckin job.”

You can hear the frustration bursting out of every single second (160 of them, to be precise) of ‘Tied To Pieces Of Paper’. It starts with a juggernaut bass and drum rhythm with Jamie spewing out the words over the frenzied beat and it’s a full minute and a half before any guitar cuts into the track, but when it does it has all the impact of being slammed face first into your shit office job desk by your tie. “What’s the point of saving any money, I’ll die,” sneers Jamie, as the noise thunders around him. It’s as exhilarating and inspiring as punk rock can get in 2024 and has a visceral power that can’t be ignored.

Recorded lovingly in Vibe Recording Studio, Cheetham Hill in Manchester with Dean Glover, ‘R.O.I.’ is an album that moves seamlessly from pulsing post-punk beats to unstoppable stadium rock anthems. ‘The Same 24 Hours (As Beyoncé)’ is Britpop rallying against the fake facade of influencer culture, ‘All Yer Dreamin’ is Mark E Smith at the Hacienda, ‘Chances’ is Oasis taking on Talking Heads. Aerial Salad finds space to explore new genres without losing the sense that this is a band born out of the hard-touring, DIY punk scene, a community that continues to be close to their heart.

Aerial Salad have also been asked to collaborate with Dr Martens to model their new Ramsey Monk Kiltie creeper shoe, with the band perfectly representing the creative expression of the shoes.

The northern three piece want us to know they’re as authentic as it gets. Injecting that raw chaos and violent charm from the stage straight into their recordings. Their goal is to make themselves known to everyone and anyone, from rave heads to indie kids, poets to rockers. ‘R.O.I’ is fantastical while acutely bedded in modern post-Brexit, Un-united Kingdom canon. We’re all trying to find our places in this new world, let Aerial Salad be the soundtrack.

Full steam ahead they said as the good ship RPM Online Podcast sails into treasure-filled waters. This Episode is positively overflowing with new tracks as well as an exclusive Live cover from Ravagers that will never be on streaming services or CD and is limited to 100 copies of White Vinyl. Spaghetty Town Records have kindly let us play the Ravager’s cover of ‘Goin Downtown’ by the Lords Of The New Church. That’s only one of the reasons why you should check the Podcast out.

Sweden’s First Boy On The Moon Kick off this Episode with the opening track of their new album ‘Dreamer’. Hot on the heels comes a new track off the Final Cock Sparrer Album ‘Hand On Heart’ out on April 5th. ‘I Belong To You’ is classic Sparrer and an album that sees the band get better and better.

Now co-host Hotshot likes nothing more than fantasising about Sex Pistol and Radio broadcasting inspiration and role model Steve Jones so we’ve dug deep for a sparkling live rendition of his classic ‘Silly Thing’.

Gareth ‘Hotshot’ Hooper

Hotshot wanted to change the mood by introducing a track from Garbage who penciled in a re-release of the album ‘Bleed Like Me’ with his favourite track off the album. How about Japan’s finest glam punks Angel Face with a brand new track off their Slovenly Records self-titled album. A new track from Bullets And Octane, and Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard before Hotshot plays Suede with a track off their latest album ‘Autofiction’.

Ravagers are a glam punk n roll band outta The USA and they have a brand new LP released through Spaghetty Town Records as pointed out in the intro above. 100 copies pressed no streaming and no downloading. This will be a must-own record and rare as rocking horse shit. We’ve got an exclusive don’t miss it.

Desperate Measures have been playing support to Cheetah Chromes Dead Boys around the UK and currently in Europe and getting great reviews so having heard the new Desperate Measures album it’s only fair we play ‘Sublime Destruction’ the title track of their soon-to-be-released Cadiz records album. Staying with Cheetahs how about a new track off The Streetwalkin Cheetahs and a wonderful track ‘Call The Dogs’ being released on Poland’s awesome Heavy Medication Records. While we’re playing the label’s newest releases we also have one from Jonesy the potty-mouthed Canadians 10″ release on HMR but not before Californians Crymwav pop by with ‘Mars Fever’ and Mala Vista get aired with a single off their soon to be released album coming out on Spaghetty Town and Beluga Records in Europe.

Marc Valentine is set to release his second album on Wicked Cool Records in the next few months, so, no time like the present to play a track off it, and having had the privilege to hear the album I can tell you it was tough which one to play seeing as the whole record is fantastic power popping Rock n Roll. Gareth drops in one of his favourite songs from Powerkeg before a fine track from The Mysterines who we reviewed recently when they played support on the Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes tour of the UK.

If you’re still with us then stick around for a banger from The Empty Page who announced this week that they have a new album coming out on their own label if this is anything to go by it promises to be excellent and the first Empty Page track we’ll be playing. With just a couple of tracks to play Sweet Tooth blast away any fatigue with their banger ‘So Gone’ from their epic Lövely Records release ‘Split Image’. This leaves River City Rebels to wipe the floor with us as they blow the fuckin doors off the show with ‘Unless Your White’ out on Screaming Crow Records.

That boys and girls is one hell of a playlist from top to bottom we doubt you’ll hear a running order with as much quality as that. Keep it RPM Online Podcast – It’s A Revolution!

This might only be four songs but these guys pack enough of a punch in those four songs you won’t want for anymore, trust me.

Frontman Dan O’Day (aka Bopper) remains at the helm of the good ship River City Rebels alongside new partners in crime, Marc Conti, Izzy DeSimon, Kody Sanborn, and Adam Allard, and between them they kick up a proper rockin’ shit storm. from the cock sure strut of the opener ‘Pop Culture Baby’ but thats only paved the way for the ’77-inspired confident duel guitar hook of ‘Rock A Cross’ with its lick of Idols Generation X and the lip-curling snot its got style and swagger much like the confident banger that is ‘Unless Your White’. Its a shade over three minutes but its got a tonne of energy and the sound is exactly what you want to hear beefy riffs in all the right places and well-arranged vocals.

Hell, I know I said four tracks is all you need, well, I might have jumped the gun there because when ‘Abuse Myself’ gets underway you want more. A solid stomper that puts on its shit kickers and starts kicking shit from the off it leaves you craving more. I want more. Before the years out I’d like to think we’d get at the very least another EP and if we’re very good can we get a whole Long Player of this stuff – it’s punk as fuck and I like the cut of their jib and ‘Pop culture Baby’ is a fantastic starter for ten. Buy It!

Of course its on Pirates Press for they’re the perfect label for some excellent polished oi meets street punk rock n roll. From the opening verse and chorus of ‘The City’ you’re already singing along with the gang on this rather fine slice of street punk.  Including past and present members of The Swingin’ Utters, The Beltones, Roadside Bombs, Hometown Addiction, Resilience, The Burdens, and more. They were formed at the beginning of the pandemic, and have the mission statement of playing roots rock n roll with a bootstomping rhythm and a fistfull of top tunes. You know what, they delivered exactly that.

Its got a spit and polish of some guys who’ve been around the block once or twice and know how to make a gret sounding record. Each of the ten tracks is powerfully delivered and arranged to perfection. Early doors you have the bass thumping runaway train that is ‘War’ I get shades of Living End in the arrangment but by the halfway point the songs are varied from the uptempo rock of ‘BNO’ to the melodic ‘Dead Generation’ with its strong message and gang vocal chorus it sounds like the perfect band for a good saturday night out with mates checking out the rock n roll show.

They even have time to slow things down for the intro of ‘Little Girl’ before it soars like a good SLF song. The upside of those long arduous lockdowns was a lot of bands were forced to work on their craft and out of all that isolation we have albums like this. ‘Good Riddence’ is a strong rock song no fuss or pretentions just five guys kicking out the jams. ‘King Of The Avenue’ is a strong avenue from top to bottom and they even find the time for a punk rock roots take on ‘Hungry Heart’ which they do very well to be fair leaving only ‘Nothing Wrong’ to sign this project off with as they ride off into the distance with a hot rod snarling rocker. If you like your Californian Punk Rock n Roll loud and full of melody with uplifting choruses that the gang can all get involved in then Hunting Lions might just be your new favourite band.

The 2nd single from Dez Dare’s forthcoming album is released, ‘10,000 Monkeys + An Argument With Time’.

‘A Billion Goats. A Billion Sparks. Fin.’ features 11 songs that delve further into the void than previous records, leaving the sardonic frustration behind for sarcastic existentialism, zeroing in on the big philosophical questions, and the pedantic shards of nonsense that make up our existence.

Tying beats, lo-fi electronics and a bass sound that will implode your speakers into a ball of anxiety, Dez looks at how we experience time and the perspective we need for change.

Dez says “time is kicking us all while we scramble around this rocky mass. If time passes slower closer to the mass, get HI to get perspective!” The concept stems from the elasticity of time as a dimension and where we sit within it. Someone living at the top of a mountain will experience time faster than someone on the ground as they are closer to the mass. Maybe if we all took a step back, took to the hills or even further… we might just see the world a bit clearer.

The self-produced Australian has spent over 3 decades producing music, releasing and touring bands, and doing live sound for z-grade metal bands. Growing up in the coastal town of Geelong (Djilang) in Australia, he was introduced to the DIY punk and rock scene at 15 and this community and the ideas rooted in the underground music scene have guided his output and ethics throughout his career.

This year Dez will be joining forces with label titans God Unknown (Cassels / Duke Garwood / James Johnston + Steve Gullick / KLÄMP / Oneida / Laura Loriga / Monster Magnet / Wellwater Conspiracy [Soundgarden + Monster Magnet]) and will be producing a deluxe version of the album on blob colour vinyl and includes a comic book illustrated by Mike Keane. In true nerd fashion the comic also features top 10s by Dez, Jason Stoll (God Unknown), Matthew Barnhart (Chicago Mastering Service), Mike Keane, and the album illustrator MALMALL.

‘A Billion Goats. A Billion Sparks. Fin.’ out March 1st on God Unknown Records.

I’m always a bit miffed when I see a Japanese glam scuzzy punk rock n roll band breaking through in the West. I know a lot of bands who tour Japan always say how awesome it was touring the land of the rising sun and how energetic and cool the place is especially for lo-fi punk n roll so why aren’t we deluged with household names? Hell knows because I don’t. Well, slovenly know a thing or two about scuzzy punk n roll because they’ve been dishing it up for a couple of decades and rarely do they not hit the mark with the bands they introduce you to. Add Angel Face to that impressive list because from the off these cats are struttin like peacocks knocking out Generation X meets Hanoi meets Dead Boys meets The Parkinsons style punk n roll.

This record is crammed full of banging melodies and hooks by the time you hit the earworm ‘USA’ you’ll be spilling beers and pogoing like a good un. ‘Big City’ is as snotty as those early Hanoi tunes but this one has a borrowed Waldos riff. Man, side one is done and dusted and it flew by and I absolutely loved it!

Come on everybody clap your hands, ‘I Can’t Stop’ is a decibel raising party in your speakers. I hope they were suss enough to get their band name from the Glitter Band track. The fact I can’t find anything on the World Wide Web about them only makes me like them more.

‘Bring Me Back’ unleashes some nasty Cheetah Chrome riffage that we should all love and it also evokes some of that Cavemen recklessness, I bet these would dish up one hell of a party in your pad if they were invited. There is a freshness and innocence about this and thats alluring but they’re tight in the right places like the snotty Thin Lizzy riff-a-rama that is ‘That’s Enough’. Hell, we’ve reached the end and all thats left is a speed enthused ramage through ‘Slippin and Slidin’ which is wonderful and sounds like the perfect take to bring this riot to an end. Lie down in a darkened room for five then put it on again but another notch louder let’s do shots to go with the beers that we’re chuggin’ whilst pogoing. Angel Face is the band rockin’ and fuckin Rollin is their game – Get involved its a no-brainer and one of the most enjoyable records you’ll hear all year – Fact!
